Effective date: 18 September 2026 Last reviewed: 18 September 2026
This policy is published by Páfata Music S.L. ("Páfata Music") in accordance with its obligations as a licensor of the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia Ltd ("PPCA"). It sets out the circumstances in which Páfata Music will consider granting licences directly to interested parties in Australia, and the process for requesting such a licence.
This policy applies to the sound recordings and music videos owned or controlled by Páfata Music and released under the following labels:
Páfata Music
Páfata Music & Producciones Abdala
Páfata Music has authorised PPCA, on a non-exclusive basis, to grant licences in Australia for the public performance, broadcasting and communication of its sound recordings and music videos.
Accordingly, our general position is that businesses, broadcasters and other users in Australia who wish to use our recordings for these purposes should obtain a licence from PPCA or, where applicable, through OneMusic Australia. This is the quickest and most cost-effective route for users, as it provides access to a broad repertoire under a single blanket licence.
Páfata Music does not, as a matter of general practice, grant direct licences for uses that are covered by PPCA's licence schemes.
Notwithstanding section 2, Páfata Music will consider requests for a direct licence on a case-by-case basis. We are most likely to consider a direct licence where:
the proposed use is not covered by any PPCA licence scheme;
the request relates to a specific, identified recording or a limited group of recordings, rather than to general repertoire access;
the request relates to a one-off event, production or campaign; or
the applicant already holds a wider agreement with Páfata Music covering the same recordings.
Each request is assessed on its own merits. Páfata Music is under no obligation to grant a direct licence and may decline a request without giving reasons.
Requests should be sent by email to info@pafatamusic.com, marked "Direct licence request — Australia", and should include:
the name, address and contact details of the applicant, and of the entity that will hold the licence;
the recordings concerned, identified by title, artist and ISRC;
a description of the proposed use;
the territory, media and duration of the proposed use; and
the proposed start date.
There is no charge for submitting a request. We aim to acknowledge requests within five working days and to provide a substantive response within 30 days of receiving all the information listed above.
Where Páfata Music agrees to grant a direct licence, its scope, duration and fee are agreed on a case-by-case basis and set out in a written licence agreement. No use may be made of our recordings before that agreement has been signed by both parties.
A direct licence granted by Páfata Music covers only the rights that Páfata Music owns or controls. It does not cover the rights of any other rightsholder, including the rights in the underlying musical works, which must be cleared separately.
Páfata Music may amend this policy at any time. The current version is published at pafatamusic.com and a copy is provided to PPCA. A copy will also be provided free of charge to any person who requests it at the address above.
